U.S.
Frigates
During the
Revolution, we built fifteen frigates, and almost all ended badly. The
silver lining is that some of those that were captured were taken to
England, and the lines were "taken off'. It is for that reason that
we can make authentic models of the Hancock, Raleigh, and Confederacy. For
the record, this is what happened to those frigates, those magnificent
vessels.

We also built one
ship-of-the-line, the America, 74, launched in 1782. She was given to the
French, who broke her up in 1784 .
