Santisima Trinidad Spain, 1805. 140-gun battleship. Scale 1:96. Sizes: length 1100 mm, height 810 mm.
The first rate ship was built in 1769 at the Spanish naval shipyard in Havana, Cuba. The hull and deck were made of Cuban mahogany, spars and masts - of Mexican pine. The board thickness amounted to 60 cm. The ship represented a powerful sailing battery. It was the first ship that had four gun decks armed with 144 guns, with 32 pdr guns installed on the lower deck. Their shells could hit the target at the distance of a mile and a half. There were two 18-pdr and twenty 8-pdr guns and mortars on the second deck.
In the Battle of Trafalgar of October 21 (November 2), 1805 the Santisima Trinidad withstood numerous volleys from British ships. However she suffered a grievous fate. The battleship was captured and sunk two days later. In the Battle of Trafalgar there were appox. 1200 men on board.
The model Santisima Trinidad is developed on basis of authentic archival drafts and reconstruction plans, including drafts from the Spanish Naval Archives. Plank-on-frame construction. Guns and decorations are cast from white metal.
